Burke aims to improve Children’s Psychiatric Center

Erie County Legislator Patrick Burke said community leaders have ensured that the Western New York Children’s Psychiatric Center will remain in West Seneca.

“For the past five years, labor groups, community members and political leaders have worked tirelessly to keep the WNY Children’s Psychiatric Center in West Seneca,” Burke said.

As a county legislator, Burke said he has attended court proceedings, passed resolutions and signed letters in support of the effort.

He said that as the Democratic candidate for New York State Assembly, he was proud to stand with members of the Public Employees Federation last week to reaffirm his commitment to keep the facility open and improve the services that families receive.

“That is why it was welcoming news that after an uphill battle with the Governor’s office, the Department of Mental Health has officially announced the WNYCPC will stay in West Seneca, where it belongs,” Burke said.

“Although today’s victory will go a long way for the West Seneca community, I look forward to working with local leaders to build on our success by making the facility a safer and more comfortable place for our children.”
