“We did a brand new renovation in the waiting and reception area,” said owner Holly Humphreys. “We have new flooring, and just the whole look of it is more modern.”

In addition, bathrooms and the office area were redone at the studio, located at 730 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca.

Humphreys said the renovation comes at a perfect time, given that Kevin Maher, a guest choreographer, who’s worked with top musical stars, will come to the studio in November to work with the dancers.

Even with the structural changes, Humphreys emphasized that the studio still runs by the same principles that her late mother followed when she was running the studio.

“It’s a great studio for children 2 and up,” Humphreys said. “We do have a very specialized children’s program at our studio and classes for mommy and me, which is for 2- and 3-year-olds. We have great classes for young children all the way to advanced competition dancers.”

The business has been in West Seneca for more than 30 years and is entering its 59th year overall, and Humphreys said she wants to continue her mother’s traditions.

“My mom definitely inspired a love and passion for dance,” she said. “She was an amazing artist, and not only did she want to teach dance, but she was always there for dancers to help them with problems and self-esteem issues.”

Humphreys said she was always impressed that “it wasn’t just about dancing, but also being part of a family atmosphere, and I hope I’m continuing that tradition of keeping it a really nice, positive family atmosphere.”

According to Humphreys, the studio’s costs are affordable and there are classes for those with and without dance experience, Humphreys also said the skills she’s gained across the country are beneficial for students.

“I really enjoy teaching the younger children, but I do love my competition dancers, and I will take them extra for practices if I see that they need it. I also take a lot of the students with me to different dance conventions in Detroit, Pittsburgh, Orlando and Anaheim.”

In creating a family atmosphere, Humphreys wants those who participate in her classes to enjoy themselves.

“I just want them to be the best they can be,” she said. “I never put a huge emphasis on winning dance competitions, but it’s more about being your personal best and being good and supportive to each other.”

Eugenia’s Dance Studio is open from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday; and closed Sunday.
